Sightseeing Krakow by bicycle
When renting a double apartment, you can use bicycles for the whole rental period free of charge. While visiting Krakow on a bike, you can see the city from a completely different perspective, in a very pleasant way. We have prepared some suggestions of cycling routes.
1. Route Old Town – Podgorze
We start when leaving the apartment and going through the Krowoderska Street up to the Planty, from where we head east through the Florian Gate. On the Florianska street, we go to the Main Market Square, then with the Krolewska Route to the Wawel passing by the Peter and Paul Church and Kanoniczna Street. Then we take the Stradomska and Dietla Streets and drive to Kazimierz, passing through Nowy Place and Wolnica Place and next to the Church of Corpus Christi. We cross the Mostowa Street towards the Footbridge of Father Bernatek, and then through the Vistula we end up on the Podgorski Market.
2. Route Old Town- Kosciuszko Mound
We start from the Szlak street, we follow the Krowoderska street towards Planty. On the west side of the Planty we drive towards Pilsudskiego Street, passing the Palace of Art, Art Bunker, the Church of Saint Anna and Collegium Novum, where we turn into Pilsudskiego Street, and then we head towards Blonia. Going through Blonia, we reach the Queen Jadwiga Street and turn left at the end of the road. The Norbertine Monastery is in front of us. We turn right into the sw. Bronislawa street passing the church of the Blessed Sacrament and the Chapel of St. Magdalena. We drive through the Washington avenue to the Kosciuszko Mound.
3. Route Old Town -Tyniec
This time we are moving east in the Planty passing next to the Florian Gate along the ramparts, we drive up to the Slowacki Theater and the Church of St. Cross. Driving through Planty we go towards the Wawel Castle. From the Wawel Hill we ride in the Vistula embankments to the Grunwaldzki Bridge passing through the Vistula River.
On the other side of the Vistula we can admire the newly built ICE Convention Center Krakow. The route runs along the banks of the Vistula. Driving alongside the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology, designed by Arata Isozaki, we continue along the river towards the west. We pass the visible on the right side the Monastery of Norbertan Sisters on Salwator and the Kosciuszko Mound. We pass by the Twardowski Rock Park and Zakrzowka.
Next, we move on a picturesque cycling route, from which we can admire the view of the castle in Przegorzaly, Wolski Forest, Camaldolese Monastery in Bielany, going to the kayak track. Then along the Vistula we finish our route at Tyniec Abbey.
4. Route Old Town – Krakus Mound
We leave the Szlak street and drive along Dluga Street towards Planty. We enter Slawkowska Street and reach the Main Market Square. Near the St. Mary’s Church, we enter Sienna Street. We pass the Small Market Square and we reach the intersection with Starowislna Street, which we choose and follow it towards the Vistula River. On the way, you can stop at the famous ice cream place at Starowislna 83. Continue the route by passing through the Powstancow Slaskich bridge and we reach the Ghetto Heroes Square. From here, we take the Kacik and Lipowa Streets to Oskar Schindler’s Factory and MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art. We return to the Ghetto Heroes Square and go to Podgorski Square. Behind the St. Joseph Church, with the Parkowa and Dembowski streets, we reach the pedestrian footbridge, which leads us to the other side of the Powstancow Slaskich street, where the Krakus Mound is located.
